The Mars Volta - Cicatriz ESP (2003)
RIP Ikey Owens —
I listened to so much music that he contributed to or recorded over the last few years and it shaped me. His contribution to De Facto and the Mars Volta, as well as his album, “Everybody’s Favorite Weapon” with the Free Moral Agents, influenced me greatly. He will be missed, may he RIP and may those close to him be given space to grieve and send off their friend, the wonderful musician, Isaiah “Ikey” Owens.
"Mangata" live at the Zombie Walk we played this past weekend - really glad my friend Joseph Veloz was able to record it!
Any reblogs/likes/comments would be appreciated. :)

This single is really good, uplifting af, and that bass solo at the end gives me chills. Enjoy. :)
“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”
― Albert Einstein
“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.”
― G.K. Chesterton
“Fear isn’t so difficult to understand. After all, weren’t we all frightened as children? Nothing has changed since Little Red Riding Hood faced the big bad wolf. What frightens us today is exactly the same sort of thing that frightened us yesterday. It’s just a different wolf.”
― Alfred Hitchcock
“Deeper meaning resides in the fairy tales told to me in my childhood than in the truth that is taught by life.”
― Friedrich von Schiller
The work of artists and scientists is ultimately the pursuit of truth, but members of both camps understand that truth in its very nature is contextual and changeable, dependent on point of view, and that today’s truths becomes tomorrow’s disproven hypotheses of forgotten objet d’arts. This is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession (2006) by Daniel J.
